No Queuing, No Going Out: Update Your Driving License Online in 5 Minutes, Delivered to Your Doorstep

After returning to Malaysia, I originally planned to go to JPJ to renew my driving license, but I found it too far. Later, I went to the post office (POS Office), and the staff said that the office had stopped processing (the situation may vary by area), but they told me I could apply online.

I then learned that I could apply online, and once processed, it would be delivered right to my doorstep. I just needed to sign for it, completely avoiding the need to go out. It was really convenient; indeed, the pandemic has pushed Malaysia to progress significantly.

I used the MyEG platform, which is a provider of electronic government services, specifically developed for online services by a listed company for the Malaysian government. The company has government contracts, so it offers a wide range of online services, such as online road tax renewal, driving license renewal, checking and paying traffic fines, applying for the renewal of MyKad, and foreign worker permit renewal services.

Application Steps

  1. Visit https://www.myeg.com.my/
  1. If you are not registered, you need to register first at https://www.myeg.com.my/auth/register/eServices
  1. If you are already registered, you can log in at https://www.myeg.com.my/auth/login
  1. Select the first option, Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan.
  1. Choose to renew your driving license (DRIVING LICENSE RENEWAL).
  1. Read the terms for applying for the driving license and select Continue (TERUSKAN).
  1. Fill in your details and select delivery, then fill in your mailing address, and select Continue (TERUSKAN).
  1. Confirm that the information is correct and check the box, then select Continue (TERUSKAN).
  1. Review the information and price displayed, and if everything is correct, select Continue (TERUSKAN).
  1. Confirm that the information on the diagram is correct, check the box, and select Continue (TERUSKAN).
  1. Choose a payment method and proceed with the payment.
  1. After successful payment, the screen will show the message below, indicating that the application was successful. Click print to save it as a PDF file as proof.
  1. In about 3-5 working days, I received my new driving license on the fifth day. You will be asked to provide your IC and scan your thumbprint to receive your new license.

Notes & Other Information

  • Applicable for renewing car licenses (CDL) and motorcycle licenses (LKM).
  • Not applicable for applying for a learner's driving license (LDL) and temporary driving license (PDL).
  • An account registered by yourself cannot be used to renew licenses for other family members, as the IC field cannot be modified; a new account must be created.
  • If you see "REKOD GAMBAR TIDAK WUJUD. SILA RUJUK KE JPJ BERHAMPIRAN," it means the system does not have your photo and cannot upload it, so you will need to go to JPJ to renew.
  • If your license has not expired, you can also apply for a renewal extension, but it cannot be extended to 5 years. Overseas Malaysians concerned about expiration can also apply.
